The Experience

“Kintsugi, the ancient Japanese art form of mending broken tea ware by reassembling ceramic pieces, creates anew the valuable pottery, which now becomes more beautiful and more valuable than the original, unbroken vessel.” - Makoto Fujimura

This half day workshop offers a unique blend of hands-on creativity and personal reflection. You’ll learn the tactile, traditional art of Kintsugi—using gold to mend broken pottery—while simultaneously exploring the narrative of your own life. By the end, you won't just leave with a beautiful, restored piece of art; you'll gain a fresh perspective on how your own challenges have shaped you into something more beautiful and valuable.

Material for mending will be provided, you will have to bring your broken ceramic that needs  mending, e.g., cup, plate, figurine, vase. Even those with a small chip or fracture will work. We ask that you do not break anything for the purpose of the Kintsugi Experience. We have enough broken things in this world. More details for preparations will be shared with you before the workshop.
